It seems to be nothing more than a higher-clocked 2600k, which isn't surprising.

I vaguely remember this being slated at the 2600k's price point originally, with the 2600k to drop down slightly. Does anyone know if this is a temporary price, or if the price got bumped up due to lack of competition from Bulldozer?

It's been out for a while now. Resellers are probably testing the waters to see how it sells compared to the i7 2600k, probably in part by the lack of competition from Bulldozer as well. Besides, Black Friday's coming soon, they'll probably drop prices for it then. If it sells better at a lower price, they'll probably make the lower pricing change post New Years.

The 2600k is still a much better value IMO. It's a fair amount cheaper, and is almost the same speed. I wonder if the 2700k will overclock any better, or if it's the same binned silicon as the 2600k with a higher core clock.

The reviews I've read show it overclocking a bit better but they're all supposed to be the same stepping.
