ronbo191 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 (edited) I am still using an LGA 775 E8400. Can't afford an i5 yet. My graphics card is an EVGA GTX260 and has served me quite well so far. I want to upgrade this system a little for the newer games coming out. I am playing battlefield 3 on medium settings and it looks pretty good and plays well. I have almost enough cash for an EVGA GTX570. Will this be a good upgrade for now? I have heard great reviews on this card so far. I have a PC Power and cooling 610watt PS, so I meet the minimum power requirements. Will I be bottle necked by my CPU? I would love to see DX11 and play on high or ultra settings for battlefield 3. Thought I would ask you guys cause I always come here for advice first. Thanks for any input. This is the card I was looking at...... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130593 p.s....I will not be running it in SLI Edited November 1, 2011 by ronbo191
El_Capitan Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 The GTX 570 is my pick for the best price/performance card when it hits the $260 mark after MIR and discount. I don't know why people like EVGA as much (I'll know soon enough, I guess). I don't know for sure how much of a bottleneck your LGA 775 E8400 will be, but it won't be as noticeable, imo. Boinker Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Why I like evga so much: they replaced a gtx480 for me that was damage due to an improperly manufactured swiftech waterblock mount that swiftech would not stand behind... yes Gabe at swiftech is a terrible person if you wonder.... This is even after I told them It was physically damaged. Yes. A 570 is going to be an awesome upgrade. Good choice.

My 4870X2 nearly burned up because of a completely stupid design on their part (that they would NOT admit had any faults...). Gabe's response? It was essentially "eff you, you're not supposed to run Furmark, ever. 130+ degrees is fine even though your machine shuts off." The only things I buy from Swiftech these days are radiators. Screw Swiftech and screw Gabe. Edited November 1, 2011 by Waco
ronbo191 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Thanks guys for your quick responses. I like EVGA because of their second to none customer service and quality product. I am glad to hear I will not be bottle necked. Would be nice if the card drops to under $300. I might wait a few weeks to see if it does. Thanks again all who replied. Fight Game Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 you have that e8400 overclocked don't you? If not, I would guess that this new card would be bottlenecked.
