Doubts for my next rig

Updating this thing here... I'm getting some advice and reading more reviews, and came up with this new build:

- ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3

- Intel Core i5 2500K (This is a sticky, not gonna change the CPU)

- Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz 2 x 4GB

- Sapphire? Radeon HD 6950 2GB

- 600-750W power supply...

- Cooler Master Hyper 212+ (bought it already)

- Cooler Master HAF 922 (best ventilation setup for the buck)

FIRST THING TO NOTICE: My budget is limited, and I'm gonna stick with the CPU, cooler and case.

1) Motherboard. Yesterday, Stonerboy779 recommended me this ASRock Z68 Extreme 3 Gen3. It's a choice that fits in my wages, but I haven't decided yet. If anyone comes with a better option, I'm gonna compare them.

2) Memory. Vengeance sticks are cheaper and have a good performance. Better ideas?

3) Video card. I'm still trying to decide the brand and the version for the 6950. Here's the topic: http://forums.overclockersclub.com/index.php?showtopic=188188

4) Power supply. We concluded that a power supply with wattage around 600-750 will be perfect. I do not plan on going Crossfire. Here's the topic where I'm discussing about power supply options: http://forums.overclockersclub.com/index.php?showtopic=188189

Have in mind that I can't afford expensive stuff. The price of these parts are near the affordable price range.

Be free to give me options and advice!

Hey Barreto that is a nice set up you have there. If you post the site you are able to get the stuff from, we should be able to find some better deals but from what is there you have a solid rig, that shouldn't be too expensive.

Don't forget you still need a HDD/s and/or SSD/s to go into it as well as an optical drive too. The two things there that may be found cheaper are a mobo and psu. The CPU, RAM, CPU Cooler and Case are all great choices same with going the 6950 rout.

Not looking for a new HD for now... I'd get a SSD, but they're still too expensive. Their prices are beyond my budget. XD

So, which P67/Z68 do you recommend? And with this build, which power supply to get? I was thinking on a 750W one, but I think it's a little bit much for this build, don't you think so? Maybe a 650 one... I don't know, I need some advice.

As I said if I could see where you are buying from i could make a specific recommendation. Please post a link.

So if you are thinking about an SSD in the future, i would recommend the Z68 chipset then instead of the P67.

You PSU as well as your mobo to an extent will also depend on whether you are considering getting a second 6950 at some point for crossfire.

Oh man, I live in Brazil and I'm going to buy the parts from brazilian shops. For currency comparison effects, 1 US dollar = 1,70 Brazilian Real. Also, the import fees make the electronic products cost 2~2,5x more than in the USA, for example.

I could convert the prices if you wish...

IF I get an SSD, I should get by the second semester of 2012. Also, I don't intend on doing Crossfire, since the video card price is absurd around here... Once card is enough, otherwise I'm going bankrupt. lol

Yes I know but conversion really means jack all I am in australia and some things can cost 100% more than in the us and other things can be only 10-20% more with other also being cheaper.. Atm australia and america are 1:1 for currency exchange which pisses me off when a complete build cost an average of 30% more.

So there was another guy from brazil asked about his build and it was easy to recommend parts because he linked some shops so we could see not only prices but what stock is available. No use recommending something if it isn't even exported to brazil. Do you understand?

No need to translate things i worked off sites which for the most part i cant read (if i need to its easily fixed with google web page translation) but I knew all the important things just needed to see price and availability.

Allright, see if it helps:

For all the effects, Sabertooth is around US$360, P8P67-M Pro is around US$315, 6950 is around US$495 and each Vengeance stick is around US$65.

These are the limits I intend to waste: (US prices / Brazil prices) - all in US$

- Motherboard: 215 / 360

- Video card: 300 / 500

- RAM: 100 / 150

- Power supply: 120 / 210

- Case: 100 / 175

NOTE: This "Mercado Livre" is very similar to US eBay. Smaller shops usually sell their products using this website.

Get the HAF 922, I have both the 912 and 922 and it is far better in almost every way. Also it may be wise to wait until the 7xxx series comes out. Its only about 1-3 months away.

Hmm... If you own a 922, then you can tell me: does it come with a 200mm red LED fan on both front and upper panel? What more does it have?

Also, the ventilation really seems better on the 922, but what about the width? Does it fit a Cooler Master Hyper 212+?

I don't think I'll wait for the 7xxx series, they should arrive in Brazil as expensive as a golden bar.

HAF 922 seconded

There will be plenty of room for 212+ and it comes with or should come with front and top 200mm fans as well as rear 120mm fan.

Asrock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 Mobo

The Vengeance RAM you linked

The Sapphire Card you linked

The Corsair 750Watt PSU you linked too not seeing any better you could lower this to something else but if you ever go crossfire 6950s this will be perfect.

Hmmm... Where was I with my head? I totally forgot about ASRock motherboards! Also, I have a friend who owns an ASRock motherboard and he told me good things about it.

Tomorrow I'm gonna look for some reviews around the web. Any other motherboards for comparison?

Oh also, I'm trying to decide between the 3 XFX models and the Sapphire one. Gave up on the HIS brand, it's more expensive than the other ones.

Is where I was (or still am) trying to solve this problem.
