Nyt Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Marco Simoncelli died today after a crash at the Malaysian Moto GP grand prix . Seems that October is a sad month of motorsport as Dan Wheldon also was killed. Marco suffered head, neck and chest trauma (his helmet came off during the crash) and later died at the Medical Centre. Heres a video of it : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbtvU749SOQ Try watch it before its pulled down (no gore or anything like that) Sad day
ccokeman Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Damn that looks bad. He was already hanging off the bike and got hit by both of them as he crossed in front of the two riders.
Boinker Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 This has been a terrible month for all motorsport. The loss of these drivers is a tough hit to anyone that hold racing dear. Hopefully something good will come out of this month. I remember the implamentation of the hanns device way back and the requirmennt now held for it by NASCAR and formula one. Hopefully one more life saving devise can be crafted and learned from these events. God rest these souls and I wish the best of support for there families. Nyt Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Well the video was taken down , but it showed what Frank said. Marco lost control and skid out the back end of the bike and while he leaned to the right side of the bike to get back on the track, he was hit by another rider at high speed which actually caused his helmet to be flung off. Next week is the inaugural Indian Formula 1 Grand Prix and with a track that none of the drivers have ever raced before, I hope another death does not occur Anyone who takes part in motorsport knows that when you do, you are risking your life but sometimes we forget just how dangerous it can be. ccokeman Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Racing is a dangerous game and the drivers know that fortunes can change in a split second. Its a shame it happens. If asked I dont think any one of the drivers in motorsports today would change what they do for a living.
