dr_bowtie Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 well I am in no hurry to buy hard drives so I'll just wait for them to come back to reality....Just because WD is flooded doesnt mean other manufactures are going to raise prices....if they were all smart they'd lower prices and put the pinch on WD....dirty business but I'd do it
Coors Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 One random person saying prices will raise doesn't make it true. WD isn't the only manufacturer. That isn't their only factory either.
Waco Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 One random person saying prices will raise doesn't make it true. WD isn't the only manufacturer. That isn't their only factory either. Just look at Newegg. A drive I bought a few weeks ago rose from $70 to $120 already...
Black64 Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Solution: don't buy from WD.
VaporX Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Cool this might mean more people buy SSDs and a higher level of adoption might mean lower prices
CheeseMan42 Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Solution: don't buy from WD. If Western Digital has to raise prices, why wouldn't the other manufacturers do the same?
El_Capitan Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 WD's prices have always been inflated, anyways. I haven't bought from them in years.
Waco Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 WD green drives are usually pretty competitively priced IIRC.
dr_bowtie Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 If Western Digital has to raise prices, why wouldn't the other manufacturers do the same? Simply put price gouging..... but if they were smart they would lower their drive prices and put the squeeze on WD....it will cost them a bundle to rebuild and try and sell drives...it would put a hurt on them...thats what i would do...force them to be competitive.... SpikeSoprano Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 If they want to raise prices during a North American recession let them, just means people that were thinking about buying now will wait until they drop their prices back down or buy another brand.
