deadnlovinit89 Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 I just got a pair of MSI GTX 550 Ti's to SLI and after installing the second card the monitor will not recognize either of the cards. All the fans start, my H100 runs and the video cards themselves run as well. but the monitor will not display anything. my specs are below: CPU - AMD Phenom II 550 BE @ 3.1 GHz Motherboard - Gigabyte AM3+ 990FX UD3 RAM - GSKILL Sniper Series DDR3 1333 4GB x2 PSU - LEPA B850 850 watt VGA - MSI GTX 550 Ti x2 Cooler - Corsair H100
SpikeSoprano Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Will it start with one card installed, if so swap it out and try it with the other card installed, this will elimate a card problem, and go from there.

You have power plugged into the cards from seperate cords off your PSU? (that psu has 4 x 12v channels.. I dont know a lot about that psu but on most psu's with multiple rails you will want each card on a different rail for proper load balancing for best results)
deadnlovinit89 Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 I have tried each card, neither work, but before installing the second card i had the first card for 2 weeks and it worked fine. now however neither work.
Hyper Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Do you hear any beeps or anything when it tries to boot? Recheck all your cables and make sure they are all seated properly and cards are properly seated in the slots.

There are absolutely no beeps at all, and I have made sure the cables and the cards are all seated properly.
SpikeSoprano Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Un plug your pc and take out the cmos battery or change the bios reset jumper for a few minutes and then put it back, then try it with the card that was working. this resets the bios back to the origional state. wevsspot Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 I just wanted to add some clarification from my perspective. As others have pointed out, power down the rig, unplug the power supply from the wall outlet. Press the power button on the case a couple times to drain all residual power from the board and components. Move the CMOS jumper to the clear position. Remove the motherboard battery. Now remove both video cards. Check the gold pcie contact points on both cards and make sure they are free from debris or damage. If you find any debris or gunk on the gold contacts clean it off with some rubbing alcohol. Install one video card in the top PCIe slot. Securely attach the 6-pin PCIe power lead to the card. Install the motherboard battery. Move the CMOS jumper back to the save position. Plug the power supply back into the wall and turn the power supply on. Boot and see if you get a display signal. If you do, enter BIOS and load optimized defaults. Save and reboot. BEFORE installing the second card again, make sure that you have the latest BIOS released for your motherboard. If not, update your motherboard BIOS BEFORE installing the second card again. Once that's done, install the second card. Securely attach the other 6-pin PCIe power lead to the second card. Install the SLi bridge. Boot again and tell us what happens.

The only difference is for some reason one video card has "dvi no signal" and the other says "vga no signal" at the moment I am at a complete loss on what to do. Boinker Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Check all your power supply connections. See if there is a wire that may have been shorted in all of the connections during the install off the vga. Remove all components other the the motherboard, processor, heatsink fan, video card, memory and the power supply. Use a known good monitor and attempt to boot. if that doesn't work remove all sticks of memory. Install one of the sticks in the manufacture fortold single stick and channel slots. Attempt to boot the computer. If no post takes place install a differnet stick until there are no sticks to test. If that does not work then a known good video card out of another system. Or powersupply would be my next move.
