Is it just me?

I like to play the odd game now and again and at the moment it's Hard Reset.

My computer is in an extension at the rear of the living room so Judy, the wife, sits not too far away watching TV. Playing games with my headphones on and I often turn round to see Judy giving me strange looks and then it's something like "Do you not think you're a bit old?". I don't know what it is but I must be making noises whilst gaming, perhaps I get a little too involved?

I don't play on-line multi-player shooter games because I get "toasted" very quickly everytime, the "youngsters" are just too good with reactions times far in access of what I can manage. My question is am I too old to enjoy the occasional game? Do you make "noises" when you game or is it just me?

Lol. Well, my brother always moves his body like he's the one that's dodging bullets and not the character he's controlling. *Shrug

Next time you should record yourself and share what noises you make, it'd make for a good laugh, I'm sure. :P

I don't know about noises, but I often speak out loud some comments during a game. Instead of thinking to myself, "woah, that is cool," I'll often just say it out loud. Sometimes it'll be words a little more vulgar, which I always have to remember to not say too loud to not offend anyone in the house. I'm sure others talk out loud during a single player game, so I wouldn't say you're alone in that regard.

I always say a lot of stuff out loud when I'm gaming, probably more of it cursing than anything, but still I probably talk to myself during games when I'm trying to think of what to do in a game, which is silly because I can't hear myself even if I do talk out loud.

I don't think anybody is too old for anything myself, the only thing I think people get too old to be doing is worrying about what others think of what they're doing.

No it isn't just you who makes noises or something while playing games. Though I do support the idea of recording it somehow, so we can all join in on the fun.

And no, you're not too old, I say before looking to see how old you are. (Just looked; wow.) In 30 years I hope I'll be playing whatever the new Crysis is.

Gaming makes me OCD lol. I have the tendency to rotate my keyboard counterclockwise with my left hand while playing, and occasionally tap my mouse on my desk with my right hand. If they keyboard slides around too much, is at the wrong angle, or my mouse doesn't land perfectly when I tap it, I get frustrated. Besides that, I'm dead silent when I play. If I get surprised, which is somewhat rare, I do jolt a little bit.

I notice that I often make noises while wearing headphones and gaming or listening to music browsing the web.

Some of them aren't even coherent noises just, like swallowing loudly or clearing my throat among other things or agreeing with something onscreen but unconsciously saying "MMHMM" softly to myself.

I've had people point it out.
