Headphones

I'm looking to get some new headphones. I'd like noise cancelling as I'll take them on planes somewhat frequently. Since I also game I was wanting a mic as well, but I don't have to have one. I only found one pair that has noise cancelling and a mic, Asus Vulcan. They've been well reviewed at a couple different places. Are there any others I should look at?

The big question is, do you want passive noise canceling or active noise canceling? The ASUS set is of the active variety, meaning they are a powered set that will need to be recharged every so often for the best possible noise canceling environment. A passive set does not require any outside power, but may not block out as much noise as an active set.

I'm using the Sennheiser PC350 currently, and they are very good at blocking out much of the outside noise. They are passive, but when you're listening to music or playing a game, you essentially cannot hear anything going on around you. Very good immersion and I can recommend them easily.

I'd really like active noise cancelling. The ones I have now are active and I really like them, especially on planes.

It's a pity you can no longer get the sennhiser pxc 350s then as they had active noise canceling where as the pc 350s are only passive.

Sennhiser pretty much just dropped it's active noise canceling rage and the only onle you can really get is the pxc250-II which is overpriced IMO.

Although passive noise canceling is quite good especially considering areoplanes aren't anywhere near as loud asthey used to be inside the cabin.

Although if you still want active the vulcans are going to be your best bet. I

f I was buying I would go passive headphones not headset and get a throat or clip on mic to go with. Preferring greater sound quality over and all together package.

But again budget what is it? Is the Vulcan the extent or could you push further and get a decent set of closed cans and an add on mic? If you want an all together set though and can forgo ANC I recommend again pc 350.

Although it looks like amazon still has refurb stock of some of this. The 450 sells for $600+ last I saw here in aus and I didn't bother checking. I only knew that there where still a few Bluetooth and on ear small headphones, not also the 450.

Not 555s while they are a great headset they are open headphones and are impossible to use in a public place let alone n aeroplane.

I am with nosnipelimit a pair of 380 pros would be amazing and can be picked up from amazing refurbed for around $80. They are headphones not a headset but much more worth the money thay the pc 350. The noise suppression from both is fairly decent not so much as the anc in the vulcans but more than enough in most situations. More importantly the sound quality if far greater.

So anc - vulcans

Or better sound cheaper (even with buying a Mic) 380 pros.

Alright I have gone over them inch by inch now there is a little scuff on the top of the band about a 1/4 in long......soooo all in all not one problem with them. I have been listening to them for about 2 hours straight and they sound quite amazing. I havent installed the sound card yet I think I am just going to wait until my new board and i5 arrive so I am sure they will only get better.

So ya....80 bucks for 380 pros just make sure you get em from DAHMART.

Here is something from mombo recently got refurb there isnt much in a headphone that can go wrong and any issues should be apparent very quickly.
