Ziggly Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 My current system is getting a bit dated, so if I won I'd use it to support building a modern system (two 5 series nVidia cards! Squee!) and give my fiance my current system for her Sims 3 addiction, my current PSU cannot support 2x 5 series geforce cards so this would help greatly my current rig purchased in 2007 (still working!) : MB: XFX NFORCE 590 SLI SOCKET AM2 DDR2 CPU: AMD x64 5600+ GPU: XFX GF 8800GTS 640MB DDR3 DUAL DVI TV and an XFX 8600 (quad monitor setup non SLI obviously =) RAM: 4GB Kingston Hyper X pc6400 HDD: 1 x Western Digital Raptor 74GB 10000 RPM SATA PSU: Rocketfish 500w PSU A new PSU would be a huge boon to this current setup, allowing me to SLI two modern nVidia cards and start on upgrading my motherboard/processor/memory. shockie Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I am currently building (should be ordering parts on Friday) a Beast 2.0 for my husband whose Gateway FX laptop bit the dust last month. So the PSU would go in his new computer. CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor (paving the way for a Bulldozer chip upgrade later) MB: ASRock 870 Extreme3 R2.0 AM3+ AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory GPU: XFX HD-685X-ZNDC Radeon HD 6850 1GB 256-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity (Have the same card in my own Beast 1.0) HDD: 1 - SAMSUNG Spinpoint 1TB 7200 RPM Case: RAIDMAX SMILODON ATX-612WB Black/Silver 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB (Beast 1.0 has the Green and Black Smilodon case... best case EVER!) PSU: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Modular LED Power Supply (And since I'm ordering on Friday the 21st, there's always the return policy... or, I can always upgrade my own 650W PSU... and get a second XFX 6850 for myself for Christmas! ) Thanks for posting this contest! KnitGnosis Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I'd put a new power supply in my desktop gaming machine. It has an Intel Core-i7 920, with 6GB of triple channel DDR3. Right now it only has SLI 8800GTs, but I'm hoping to upgrade to SLI 560TIs in the near future and could use the extra power to fuel them. Other specs include 2 velociraptor HDs and a 1TB caviar green for storage. Can't wait to put this bad boy up against Battlefield 3 and Skyrim!
