HarryTaco Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 (edited) From the Anandtech chart, it looks like the newer chipsets won't support Sandy bridge. Anyone have any ideas on why? Just because of limitations of the architecture not supporting what the chipset does? I think the X79s were/are designed for the 2011 socket. I believe there will be Ivy Bridge CPUs in 1155 socket as well. HERE Is that what you were asking? Or, were you asking why no X79 in 1155 socket? I think I know why, Intel did that because they want to sell as much p67,z68...etc boards as possible even after the release of their new chipset and CPUs. I do not think there is any thing technical about it. Its just pure business.

I think Z68 will be around for awhile with perhaps a few updates along the way.
