El_Capitan Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Well thats why I want an SSD, is to have a noticeable difference in performance in everyday use. I'm talking about the differences between most SSD's, not SSD's vs HDD's.
VaporX Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 In day to day use it is really hard to tell the difference between most SSDs. Even the new SATA 3 drives while quicker are only barely noticeable in a speed boost in real world performance over older SSDs. The reason is in real world computing experience the seek time, not bandwidth is king in storage, and there all SSDs are pretty much created equal. When you throw traditional HDs into the mix that all changes and SSDs blow past HD in real world computing experience.

This holds true until you start installing things - I noticed a HUGE improvement in game install times going from a single drive to a RAID 0 setup. Granted, that's just about the only thing that feels faster, but I would guess load times are slightly better as well too. Still - like you said - nearly any SSD is better than a mechanical drive. The difference is phenomenal.

Krieg1337 Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=82516 Use that to tweak your SSD. Its what I did with my G.skill, blazing fast and still 100% health last I checked(It had been used for over 40 hours by then).
