wevsspot Report post Posted August 1, 2011 Not sure about that. Looks like it is soldered to the board. Is it a sensor of some sorts?

dr_bowtie Report post Posted August 1, 2011 I think he's talking the little yellow tab just to the left of the contact teeth....
wevsspot Report post Posted August 1, 2011 He is. But I don't see it on the photo I grabbed from the website he linked. On the photo I attached the pcb is void of the little yellow "protector" or whatever the heck it is. I guess whether or not I'd snip it off would depend on whether it was soldered to the pcb or not. To me it looks like it is soldered, but the photo may be playing tricks on my eyes. Could it be a temperature diode of some sorts?
DanTheGamer11 Report post Posted August 2, 2011 Did you contact the Mobo manufacturer and GPU?
wormy Report post Posted August 2, 2011 are you talking about the part Ive pointed to? if so that should be fine to clip off.
wevsspot Report post Posted August 2, 2011 are you talking about the part Ive pointed to? if so that should be fine to clip off. Now that makes some sense. Duh. Yes, it would be fine to carefully snip or file that down. But once you do that you effectively lose part of the locking integrity. If your card is firmly and properly seated in the pcie slot, then the little bar on the pcie lock should slip right into that recess and lock the card firmly in place.
