Andrewr05 Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I'm assuming this aso works for DSL? (the upgraded modem aspect.)L I'm paying for 15Mbps but only getting about 9.5 tops. Would a high-end modem net me anything other than advanced features?

Would a high-end modem net me anything other than advanced features? I would imagine so. My current modem doesn't allow me to get my full potential because it's a docsis 2.0. Finally ordered a new one yesterday and it should increase my speeds to what i'm paying for. Went with a Motorola SBG6580 for the 4 ports and the built in wireless. With DSL I would suspect it's more likely the limiting factor is the line itself. At least that is how it tends to be here.
Bosco Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 This is what I am currently getting, on a Cisco DOCSIS 3 modem. In Feb they are moving me to 250 down and I think 25 up.

bishop245 Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 The best speed my isp offers is 20Mb but bundled with cable tv it is only 15Mb I may buy a new modem to kill the $10 per month rental myself if I decide not to move.
KissMyWookie Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 I would go for the Motorola SB6180 (if you don't need the built-in wireless router feature of the SB6580).
KissMyWookie Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 ...the SB6x80 series can bond 8 downstream channels together and 4 upstream channels together. Which is great for future proofing, but currently over-the-top for the majority of people (if your ISP can even provide speeds that fast).
