You should check out ajmatson 's FS thread. http://forums.overclockersclub.com/index.php?showtopic=185406&view=findpost&p=1928949

He's selling a P II 970 for $110.

That's a pretty decent build. It'll be able to play majority of today's games at max settings, well depending on your resolution.

You should consider a SSD.

The 965 is a waste of money, If you're getting a phenom get the 955. The rest of it looks fine to me but am3 is getting old now, you might want to wait till the end of this month when bulldozer (am3+) gets released. Also your links are broken :P

you should get a AM3+ mobo now instead of AM3, there are heaps of AM3+ mobos out but wait for 990FX or something like that...but the build is sort of identical to what i'm building for my bro.

by the way it is a good build should play most games

I would definitely get an AM3+ mobo and probably get a used phenom II x4 for cheap then drop in a bulldozer when convenient. Other than that those are all quality choices for hardware

Be smart and get a 900 series mobo... as well as being backwards compatible with am3 you get 100% compatability with am3+ which will pwn AM3... also it has internal usb 3.0 and stuff... sli and crossfire support on one mobo... which sounds better? Plus everybody is saying so :P

Also listen to Owenisbad, you can save a few bob by overclocking it yourself and you can put the money towards a 4.2Ghz stock processor later :)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131736 I know this might be out of your price range but look at the chipset series... don't go by 800 series that say they 'are' compatible as they won't have TurboCore 2.0 and PowerGate and Sli etc... wait for 900 series AM3+!

by the way, bulldozer release has been PUSHED BACK to late august/ early september

so, if you HAVE to upgrade asap, id say find a good am3+ board and if you cant wait that long, go for a 955
