Forum purging?

Recommended Posts

So I've been crawling around here lately and I've come across some REALLY old posts and overclocking goals/techniques. I was wondering if you guys archive some of that or just leave it live in the forums?

Just makes it harder to search IMO.

If they purge the forums they might get rid of something that could be useful for someone further down the road.

I've dug up threads that are from years and years ago, I chuckle a bit and then move on.

or maybe a search filter to set from and to dates?

hmmm...I have a sneaking suspicion that there is already something like that in place.... :)

Personally, I like that I can find every single post I've ever made on here dating all the way back to when I joined. The search function is robust enough to allow users to narrow their focus and find exactly what they are looking for without much hassle. I think it would be a mistake to purge or archive past content.

I wonder if maybe they could archive older stuff then?

Technically, every post is "archived" as soon as it is posted... do we move it out of the way, or hide it? No. The only posts we delete are spam and those that violate the rules.

Yup. Hit the advanced search, and you can narror by date. Of course, if people would post in the correct forums that would make finding posts easier as well. :P
