independent01 Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Hello, I have (stupidly) taken on a known faulty Seagate FreeAgent 1Tb ext hdd, the little sucker lights up, spins up but fails to be recognised by the OS (windows XP home 2002 service pack 3). I had figured that if I could access the settings of the hard drive I might be able to remedy the problem, but no luck so far. Any suggestions you as a community may have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Had a brand new seagate 500 gb that would show in bios but os would not recognize it, tried all hd tests from seagate and finally rma'd it back to them, good luck but when they die bury the damm thing. downndirty79 Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Yeah, it sounds like a dead drive to me. I had the exact same thing happen to a seagate drive of mine. Hopefully it's still under warranty?
