alerosa Posted February 23, 2011 (edited) I've recently installed a Core i5 2500 and was trying to figure out if I did everything right. So I turn on the PC and go directly to the BIOS (motherboard is a Gigabyte P67A-UD3). Under the "PC health status" tab, I can see the temperature of the CPU slowly and steadily rising to 59 ºC (room temperature ~ 30 ºC). Is this acceptable? Maybe I installed the cooler incorrectly? PS: This processor apparently comes with a pre-applied thermal paste, it didn't come separately. Thanks. Edited February 23, 2011 by alerosa

alerosa Posted February 23, 2011 thats kinda high id remove paste apply some arctic silver and reseat heatsink if still higi check for bios update If I install a temperature monitoring software, will it display the same temperature as the one in the BIOS? Because it must be using the same "thermometer" as the motherboard. Hope this isn't a dumb question Thanks.
Alexandre Posted February 23, 2011 I believe it should show the same temperatures but you can go and find out for yourself by installing the temperature monitoring software. Make sure your heatsink + fan is installed correctly on your CPU mate
NearlyEpic Posted February 23, 2011 Not always true, my BIOS displays 40C when HWMonitor shows that it's lower.
