AMD $1k Build

My house recently burnt down, so Im unexpectedly needing a new computer (any everything else). This will be only my 2nd build. I got around $1000 to spend on the rig then around $150-250 for the monitor. I'm looking for suggestions on all the components and their compatibility with one another. Thank you.

Looks nice, if you aren't going to SLI in the future, you can back off that PSU. 550 to 600W would definitely be more efficient and cost less.

 

If you can possible afford it, I cant urge you strongly enough to spring for an SSD to run as your OS drive. The difference is more significant and noticable than just about any other component up/downgrade would be.

 

That seems expensive for a GTX460... oh wait... that's the 1GB one. I think I gave 169 for a 768mb version before I swapped for an HD 6870--however, when I did have my GTX460, it ran everything just about as nice as this Hd6870 does.

 

You only need DDR3 1333 (or DDR3 1600 if you want some headroom for overclocking--but even that isn't terribly necessary given that the 1090s can OC by multiplier).

I will most likely upgrade to a SSD after the next paycheck.

 

I went with that RAM because I read the G. Skill Flare was great for AMD 6-cores. And Newegg only had 2000 or 1800mhz versions so.

Someone mentioned the Coolermaster Hyper+ wont be good at cooling a 125w Thuban cpu anyone have experiencee with this and of course i want to OC it.

A Hyper 212 + would cool it well enough for 4GHz

Some money savers:

 

Switch from 1090T --> 1055T With the cooler master 212 you can easily overclock the difference or more

Switch from 460 1GB SSC+ ---> A cheaper 460 1GB and OC yourself for free.

Im planning a very similar build with same mobo, cpu, psu, heatsink, and case since your buying from newegg just thought I would let you know that there is a combo deal with that mobo and cpu if you didn't already know

Don't forget that the AMD chipset doesn't support SLI, so you'll have to replace the 460 when you want to upgrade the GPU in the future, if that's something you want to do eventually. Of course the 460 is a great card, so if you're not addicted to eyecandy, it'll probably last you years.

It's a little more then the ram that you where looking at but it has 4gigs more and lower volts, plus with a small bump in the volts ".05v" I was able to take my timmings to 8-8-8-24 @ t1! I would attest look at it. I also got my CPU up to 3.6ghz on the stock cooler so I don't see why that cooler would not take your CPU up to 4ghz! Good luck and sorry about you house!

Personally I would use different RAM, I like Kingston or Corsair. I have had nothing but trouble with G.Skill for some time

I am also looking at this RAM (Corsair Vengeance 2x4) and it looks pretty tall might have some problems with the hyper 212 clearing it since on that mobo the memory slots look pretty close to the cpu. Anyone think this might be a problem?

 

Also if your looking to lower the price Ive been told by many that paying the extra for SATA III 6G/s HDD was a waste since the mechanical drives arent even utilizing the potential of SATA II yet.
