GTX 570 overclocking instability & concerns

Im getting 2 GTX 570s tomorrow from newegg and i of course want to overclock each one so i can get close to GTX 580 power. But there is alot of talk on the internet from numerous sites about people frying and killing there 570s, and theyre being clocked at reasonable speeds, well, reasonable in my eyes anyway, lol. Some have got there 570 up to 800, 825, 850, 875 and above all the way going up to 900 and above, some go all the way up to 900 and run fine, while others cant even go up to 800 without frying the card, its obviously a voltage issue. So what im asking is, how do i avoid blowing up my 570s? Because now im scared to even try and make an attempt to overclock the 570s, what do i do? :whoa:

Simple solution is to get two GTX 560s since they are proven overclockers and deliver stellar performance at a much cheaper price point.

deciding to go with 2 570s then down to 2 560s is like saying, "ehh, my 5870 is too fast, im gunna downgrade to a 5770 instead".....

Yea, the 5870/5770 comparision isn't going to work in the scenario! Especially since the 560's OCed have beat the OCed 570's in many reviews including here on OCC! Save the money, it is pointless not too ;) And bp is right the 560's are proven overclockers

I used to love the 570, now it's pointless if one can move a slider.

:withstupid: Go for the 560s - they perform really well.

occ barely put effort in overclocking the 570, 786mhz... wtf is that? do some voltage tuning :) my 570 is stable 24/7 @ 850mhz @ 1.05v with stock fan setting and can go up to 900mhz 1.075v with a custom fan profile which doesn't the least annoy me.

No need to be like that, they at least provide information on Overclock with stock voltage. they review to worldwide users, not specific users with passion to overclock

Whoa, forcing to downgrade. Hey, if someone already choose, don't force to do other!

No one is forcing anyone to downgrade here.

E13thirty7 has asked for advice and we are happy to give it. It is his/her choice to reject/accept any suggestions we provide :)

Our advice is based on what we think is best value for money given performance levels and, more importantly, the fact that it offers one means of averting what E13thirty7 fears may happen - frying his 570s via overclocking.

If the OP decides to get the 570s then fine we will try to help him stop frying his card using other methods but since he/she has yet to buy the cards, we think getting the 560s is the better option.

We apologize if it seems like we are "forcing you to downgrade" E13thrity7 - that is not our goal
