HP motherboard and HDD size...

Recommended Posts

I am helping a friend who wants to upgrade her main hard drive 250GB e with a 2tb WD - she is running Windows 7 23-bit from this drive. The PC is an HP Compaq Business Desktop dc5800 - Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz.

HP says they are not sure if it will work but give no reason why. They say the system has only been tested up to a 500gb drive. Anyone here have any thoughts as to what would keep it from running?

The motherboad is listed only as part # 461536-001 -

Intel Q33 Express chipset

thanks!

If you've got the drive I'd try it. HDD size limitations on pre builts are usually BIOS limitations. It may see the drive up to the max the BIOS enables.
