pie Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 (edited) After replacing my power supply, my computer will just randomly shut down. I tried to run MemTest, but it also shuts down during the MemTest. I installed SpeedFan to check if my CPU was overheating, but the SpeedFan temps look off, -29C? My room isn't that cold. I did touch the heatsink after the computer shutdown, and it was cold, room temperature cold. Sometimes I can use the computer fine for 40mins-1hr, other times it will restart as soon as I turn it on. Any ideas what else I can check? Fatedmeeting Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Try http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ Could be your PSU though.

dihartnell Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Doesn't seem that random to me. Is it consistently doing it now or is it working fine sometimes? The disk errors are just because its core dumping mid loadup of windows. Why was the PSU swapped out? Have you removed the CPU cooler and reapplied TIM and reseated. Is the fan for the CPU actually going?

sticknstone Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 To test the cpu temp I would simply lick the heatsink, if my tongue sticks then yes that is the correct temperature.
