Windows 7 Boot on second try

Recommended Posts

I have recently built a new rig and have installed windows 7 64bit, when I turn it on from a cold start it will start to load windows showing the windows logo then it will restart and give me the options:

Repair Windows (recommended)

Start Windows Normally

If I go for a repair it asks if I would like to perform a system restore but I don't really see the point as I only installed windows yesterday. Then when I decline it carries on trying to repair and basically says it can't. Then it offers the send error report dialog which I did.

However If I just choose the start windows normally instead of Repair it will boot in to windows and work fine.

Has anyone see this issue before and know how to resolve it. Or anyone have any suggestions.

I was going to try and run a system repair tonight with the disc to see if that will fix the issue.

Do you think it could be a hardware issue?

Thanks Guys

recently i experienced the same -annoying- issue a few times, a did a disk chek, memory test, and everything was fine, for me upgrading my ati display drivers fixed that problem (also im giving w7 time to boot and then in turn on my u2711 :teehee: i found that the issue never happened when i did that... not sure if is related or not)

pop your windows x64 dvd in there, boot from dvd then try using the automatic repair for it.

usually works sometimes by just sticking the dvd in there and booting into it..
