Muchoman1 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Yeah but 125 is usually the max you will get stable. Many LN2'er have had chips benching at 125 BCLK for high OC's and the next run they cant even get 5GHz anymore to run. But go ahead and use BCLK straps, not my problem if you kill your chip but thats the thing, they are using high bclk and high multipliers, if these chips are multiplier locked, then i will be using a low multi with a higher bclk. also i read somewhere that intel would release multiplier unlocked xeons due to the fact that there is now a few dual cpu gaming/enthusiast boards. probably going to cost an kidney or two though
Speedway Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I'm just glad to see my (2) 6970's, that were cheaper than the 7970, crushing it here....and with a 2600K
MJCRO Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Its just a single 5970. I can only OC it because I put it under water. With the stock cooler it hit unsafe temps if i did anything. Oh lol yeah I saw 2 GPU's and then realized it's a dual GPU card. That's a very good score for a card that came out so long ago. Planning on getting a second one? Stonerboy779 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 The straps don't damage anything...high overclocks with tons of voltage do. You might as well claim that changing the multiplier damages chips. Yeah but you do damage chips haha

Planning on getting a second one? Yeah it's a beast if you can keep it cool. At stock it got barely over 7000. Not planning on a second one...it's crazy fast even compared to my dual 4870X2 setup. MercuryDoun Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Yeah, the only thing you'll improve is the physics in games, otherwise there's nothing that you'll see in benchmark/gaming FPS comparisons other than slightly better Min FPS. You really don't even need to push the CPU higher, imo. You don't need to overclock an i7 for a game anyways... Didn't stop us all anyways did it? El_Capitan Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 P10735 and X3711 i7 2600K @ 4.8GHz & HD 7970 3GB @ 1305/1780 for the P10735 i7 2600K @ 4.8GHz & HD 7970 3GB @ 1315/1780 for the X3711 I guess I got lucky on my 1315 benchmark for Xtreme setting. I'm 100% stable at 1300MHz Core Clock, but a little less stable at 1305MHz and 1315MHz. Looks like you have work to do, Nyt.
