ATI vs. NVIDIA??? Who currently has the throne?

Who has the ball in there court as of right now? I know ATI has there new 6xxx series, but Nvidia's coming back with the GTX 580. Im a die-hard ATI fan but everytime ATI comes out with something new, Nvidia comes right back to keep things competitive,lol.....even though the 5970 is unmatched in every area possible, literally the best single video card in the galaxy, lol. At the end of the day, which is better? Honestly.....No fan-boyism,lol. Which has better drivers? And of course, Crossfire vs. SLI? Nvidia's last graphics giant, the 480, ran extremely hot and was more power hungry than saddam hussein, lol :-P, and in SLI it was even worse! Great and powerful card, but pushed everything to the absolute limit with heat and power.

I love ATI, been with them since day one, but what's with there drivers? Nvidia's drivers are said to be alot better. And, why does SLI scale better than crossfire sometimes?

Single GPU Nvidia

Dual GPU ATI

SLI VS CF - I would give the edge to Nvidia. Reason being is more games scale with SLI then CF. ATI has gotten a lot better but I still feel that their drivers are very weak. I have noticed their drivers are not very good when it comes to dual based GPU's, thats one of my biggest frustrations with them.

Both companies have come along way from years ago, both have their perks but both have their cons.

Yeah , the GTX480 is the fastest current single gpu (but might change to GTX580 or 6990 once the official reviews are out)

And the 5970 the fastest dual gpu (but might go to 6990 or the nvidia equivalent).

From experience of both sides, I'd say Nvidia drivers are better (except the one that lowered fan speed and made cards melt)

SLI shows more performance gains in games over Crossfire .

yeah i hear ya, but one cant exclude the fact that ATI is still beastly, lol. Dont get me wrong, id love to give some Nvidia cards a try in SLI in the future but its just ive heard so much negative things about them despite there great performance, for instance, i heard nvidia cards run extremely hot and consume a tremendous amount of power, and, that they overclock horribly.........

No way dude , GTX480 beats the 5870

thats just an unfair comparison, more like the 5970 and 480 would be more evenly matched, though the 5970 owns the 480 in the end....the 470 or 295 would be a good match up for the 5870......no too long ago the 5870 was one of the fastest cards out there, and it still is, dont 4get that.

I wasnt the first to compare them , I just stated the 480 is superior because warweeny thinks a 5870 is.

5970>GTX480

GTX480>HD5870

HD5870>GTX470
