E13thirty7 Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 I have 2x CF 5870s already, how much of a performance boost would i notice if i get a 3rd one for Tri-fire? What is the stability of 3x 5870'? And, in the end, is Tri-fire worth it?
Nyt Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 What resolution are you at ? If 2560x1600 or eyefinity then you will get a nice boost . But not everything is optimised for all three cores. The heat produced will also be substantial and you should have good case cooling.

E13thirty7 Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Wait , didnt you already post that over here ? yeah but there were some questions ive left out, the other thread was just if my setup could support it, here im asking what the performance is :-)
Nyt Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 And heres what one of the guys suggested to look for the performance... You still havent told us your resolution , what your psu ? Whats your rig to be used for ? Whats your cpu ? Basically what all your specs are.

Nyt Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Next time keep a single thread where you ask all your questions At 1920x1080 I dont think you'll see much more performance . My 5970 dominates anything I throw at it at 1080p with max everthing and forcing 16xAA and 16xAF so I think dual 5870 is enough. Rather wait and maybe get a 6 series card if you want to see a real performance gain

Nyt Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 The 6970 looks like a killer to me , Im waiting for a 6990 to upgrade to. I was tempted with getting a cheap 5850 for tri-fire buts it last gen and doesnt have all the cool new features (Eyespeed , Advanced Parellel processing, etc). Shadowtroop Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 trifire scaling is pretty bad, alot of games might not even support it, and yes the heat would be ridiculous
