my 10 year old HP media center keyboard is on it's last legs

I love my keyboard but it's time to get a new one since they keys are sticking from all the bread crumbs inside

so I was thinking would a mechanical keyboard be good?

I use my computer all day but I do play TeamFortress2 alot

so would a mechanical be easier on my fingers?

also it has to have volume controls on the keyboard

and I would like to spend around 50$ but some more is Ok if you think the keyboard is worth it

I don't think I need any programmable stuff unless you think it's worthwhile

also I hope it to be available at newegg since I have to buy a new GPU soon as well

All the expensive/gaming keyboards i have ever bought break or malfunction eventually.

I say buy the cheapest most basic one and it will last you forever.

I'm still on the same $8 compaq keyboard I bought 6 years ago and it still works like the day I got it.

(did have to take it apart and clean all the nastiness out of it though)

  • 3 weeks later...

I use the Logitech Illuminated Ultrathin Keyboard with Backlighting and it's great. The keystrokes are super responsive, and you don't need to press down on them much. It's akin to pressing down on a laptop keyboard. It's full-size, and has never given me any trouble. Definitely a recommended buy. I tried gaming keyboards, but I never needed to use the macros, so they're pointless for me. The keystrokes and responsiveness was my main buying point.

You can buy them directly through Logitech sometimes for $45, or on sale via Amazon for $50. They're usually around $70.
