nice_shoes Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 I recently upgraded to Windows 7, and at the same time I installed a new DVD/CD burner, LITEON model iHAS424-98A. Now, when I merely highlight the burner (E:\) in Windows Explorer, it automatically opens the disc tray if there is no disk in it, and gives a message "Please insert a disc into drive E:." I do not want this to happen because my computer case has a door that covers the drive bays, and I'm afraid that the DVD burner will damage itself if it tries to open when the case door is closed. So, I don't know if this is a property of the burner itself, or a property of Windows 7. Maybe then I can find out how to cancel this "feature". Any ideas?? davidst Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 I have had trouble with Lite-on drive products, the drives act flaky after about a year. Do you have another drive that you can try? Here is my favorite SATA drive, I have 2. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151188
