Nice... but I wonder why the value of the prizes cost so much?

With my discounts, this is what my main rig cost, pretty much:

Win 7 x64 = $120

P6x58D Premium = $280

i7 950 = $230

12 GB (6x2GB Crucial 1333 DDR3 RAM) = $210

Two GTX 460 1GB's = $430

Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB = $230

Four Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB's = $220

Rosewill Bronze 1000W = $130

Custom watercooling = $400

Thermaltake Xaser VI = $80

Blu-ray x8 burner = $110

Total = $2,460

It's cheaper by almost half, but probably almost twice as fast as the 1st place prize that's valued at $4549.87. Do they just pull those values out of their butt?

Almost twice as fast? Are you on crack or LSD?

Look at your system. Now look at the prize system. Now back to your system again. Now back to the prize. Sadly, yours isn't the same as the prize system, but it could be if it had 2 ARES 5870 X2's, 2 SSD's, A Lian Li case, ASUS Rampage extreme MB, i7 980 6-core processor and Antec 1200W PSU. Now look down. Now look up, you're on a boat, with the machine you could have (ignore power concerns, you realist :P ). What's on your machine? Back at the new machine, it has two tickets to E3. Now the tickets are diamonds. Anything is possible when you look at the system specs. I'm on a horse.

.

No, but seriously, this machine has several key components that make it more expensive than yours, that I listed. Not saying your machine is crap, it isn't. Just this one is better. And free.

You don't think so? You need to start taking some of my kool-aid.

i7 950 custom water vs i7 975 with the Thermaltake Contac 29 120mm CPU Cooler; 4.6 GHz vs 4.1 GHz if max core temp = 82C in Prime 95

4 Samsung Spinpoint F3 7200 RPM 1TB's in RAID 0 vs 2 Seagate Barracude 5400RPM 2TB's in RAID 0; epic win, and I mean epic for the Spinpoints

Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB vs Intel X25-M 160GB; Now, I also have the Intel X25-M 160GB, and Crucial does beat it in just about everything.

12GB Crucial 1333 DDR3's vs 6GB OCZ Gold 1600's; I have twice as more GB's, and OCZ RAM is poop. Honestly. I have a 2x2GB kit.

Dual GTX 460 1GB's in SLI water-cooled vs 1 5870; No brainer here. Overclocked, I'm competing with the 5970's.

So which part of almost twice as fast doesn't seem realistic?

Really, learn to read. I said 1st prize. Not Grand prize.

The whole point I'm trying to make is, give me the value amount that they're stating their prizes are worth, and I can build something just as fast, probably faster, for just half as much.
