First of all I'd like to say "Hi" to everyone :)

I'm noob when it comes to PC hardware so I need your help.

I want to buy a new PC + monitor.

I have about 1500 euros (~2000 $).

All parts should be available in www.pixmania.ie

I'd use it mostly to play games but also to watch movies and listen music.

I thought something like this:

Processor: Intel i7 930

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-P55M-UD2

Memory: Crosair Dominator GT 3x2Gb

Graphics card: HD 5970 2Gb or 5750 Crossfire

Waiting for your comments...

Yes, with that kind of cash you can build an excellent gaming/all purpose, rig. Those are top shelf choices so far. You should just go ahead and fill out the rest of your components and peripherals along with brand names and so forth. Then you can get a detailed reponse. When you have your choices narrowed then be sure to shop around for lowest pricing. Good Luck.

Oh,,,, Welcome to OCC.

ASUS P6T WS PROFESSIONAL 255 Euro

INTEL CORE I7-930 - 2.8 GHZ 270 Euro

CORSAIR 3 X 2 GB DDR3 2000 230 Euro

SAPPHIRE TECHNOLOGY RADEON HD 5970 - 2 GB GDDR5 550 Euro

WESTERN DIGITAL CAVIAR GREEN - 1 TB - 64 MB 60 Euro

COOLER MASTER GX 750W 77 Euro

Is it okay? Is there a better GPU for that kind of money?

Please suggest 23" or 24" monitor and nice looking quiet case.

Dont get a slow hard drive like that WD Green drive, good drive but slow. Try a Black Edition. For the amount of money your willing to i would go with something more like...

SSD Boot drive = $135

And some form of Raid-0 or perhaps Raid-5 for your games/apps/data, Something like this would be great = $55 each, Either get 2 for Raid-0 and still get your 1TB of storage but much faster, or perhaps get 3 for Raid-5.

Are you going to overclock?? If you are you will need an Aftermarket cooling solution as the stock Intel HSF's are garbage.

I would have provided links from that website you mentioned before but im in the US and its really slow here. So i took the lazy way out. Before i gave up though, i saw that they do have the 320gb F4 drives, i use these in my current computer, two of them in Raid-0 are quite fast, no SSD, but serve as my game and data drives, im happy with them. Alot of normal WD drives dont natively support Raid anymore, and its not hard to enable the TLER, but if you dont know what your doing i wouldnt bother going through that much work to do it, and their RE drives are expensive.

Im not sure what the prices are over there. but maybe look at an AMD phenom II system for a little cheaper and similar gaming performance. if you find amd components cheap enough you could use the saved money towards a faster GPU which is what is important in gaming

Cheaper motherboard (save 60 euro)

http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/4781147/art/gigabyte/ga-x58a-ud3r-1366-socket.html

Cheaper video card (save 110 euro, performance wont be too much different)

http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/5558059/art/leadtek/winfast-geforce-gtx-480-1.html

180GB SSD in addition to your selected drive for 415 euro

http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/6533042/art/ocz/2-5-agility-2-series-sata.html

Its worth it. Ask anyone on this forum, nobody who's ever experienced the speed of an SSD will ever go back to booting or gaming off of a mechanical drive again if they can help it, cost be darned.

Consider this memory to save 100 euro-

http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/2041640/art/corsair/xms3-triple-channel-3-x-2.html

The 2000MHz speed memory is nice, but nobody here will tell you its necessary. The real world difference between 2000 and 1600 will be less than 5 FPS in any games in a worst case scenario.

IDK about cases and screens though...

:withstupid:

except get two of these and SLI them, better performance and cheaper than the 480. (and if they're overclocked it will come on par with the 5970!)

With $1500 you can get a beast of a system, so fthese are some of the things i would recommend for that price range.

Intel i7 950 - $290

This is a very fast chip and will fulfil all of your gaming needs for a long time to come.

GTX 460 X2 SLI - $410

These two graphics cards will have some of the best performance available giving the best frame rates in all games.

Asus P6X58D-E - $200

A great quality motherboard which will do its job well.

6.0GB Corsair DDR3 1600mhz XMS3 CL9 - $130

Getting 2000mhz doesnt have a great advantage over 1600mhz, without a noticeable performance boost sticking to cheaper 1600mhz ram is a better option

64GB c300 SSD - $125

SSD's have amazing performance, usually a mechanical hard drive bottlenecks a powerful system however people dont realise because the hard drive is a necessity and rarely thought of as a performance enhancer such as a cpu is.

1TB Western Digital Green - $60

This is a great hard drive for storage. It is one of the most reliable drives around and still has modest performance and power consumption.

850W Corsair TX - $130

You can never go wrong with corsair so great power supply

Antec Twelve hundred - $175

This is a nice looking case with plenty of room and great airflow keeping your system cool.

I recommend that you get and aftermarket cooler for your cpu as intels coolers are not sufficient for their cpus. Also i am not to well informed when it comes to monitors so i shall leave that out.

I hope this helps and good luck building your new rig
