Well that's a good solution - but that's also why I have a TON of external storage from my desktop with ~100 MB/s of bandwidth to do so. If in doubt - nuke it and start again. I have Zune open 24/7 on my laptop and I have no issues, even after sleep/hibernation cycles and it staying open it works fine. It starts up instantly with no slowdown holding my 12-13GB music library.
