JesterJayJoker Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Hey I was just wondering on overclocking my CPU. Specs are as follows AMD Athlon II X2 245 Regor 2.9GHz Socket AM3 65W 4GB - 2 x Crucial 2GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) Rocketfish 700-Watt ATX PSU - which I'm pretty sure is a Huntkey 650W PSU SAPPHIRE 100242-1GL Radeon HD 4850 1GB 256-bit GDDR3 ASUS M4A78T-E AM3 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard Aftermarket Heatsinks on both cpu and gpu Now heat isn't an issue. I have my videocard OC'ed and on full load it runs at 59C. Regular 625/993 and OC 640/1100. Tried to get higher, but it becomes unstable. I guess my MAIN question is about the CPU. I can get it to 3.3 Ghz with no raise in the voltage and under full load the temps are 45-50C. With that being said I'm unsure on how to get it higher. I've seen people raise it to 3.8 Ghz. So what would it take for me to raise the cpu to this level? If anything do you think I can raise the video card as well. If you need anything else let me know. ellisbodds Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 You will have to make sure that your RAM isn't getting overclocked too much as this usually gets unstable before the CPU. Try either manually setting it to 1066MHz (or 533, whichever it says) or if you can't do that, set the FSB:Memory ratio at 1:1. If that's still making it unstable you will need to up the voltage/s.
