IVIYTH0S Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 So I'm working on putting together a nice machine for my cousin, as far as I know, the only thing she doesn't need is a monitor (as she has an HDTV she can use). Though this also sort of limits the graphics cards to though that come with or natively sport an HDMI port. Budget is $500-700, I'm thinking of trying to fit a Phenom II into that, also trying to make it a decent gamer. CPU: Athlon II x4 620 $60 Motherboard: Biostar 790GX http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138163R $55.00 RAM: Geil 2x2GB 1333mhz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820144266 $81.98 Case: NZXT Gamma FROM COMPXPERT $40 PSU: Antec 650W http://www.nextwarehouse.com/item/?610734_g10e $80 Harddrive: Seagate 7200.12 500GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148395 $40 GPU: Palit 460 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814261075 $230 Optical: ASUS DVD Burner SATA http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310234623594 $23.99 Cooler: Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer 120mm $40 Total: $678.24 This is just a rough outline (hence being on newegg) if I could fit better components into those price ranges I'll update it as necessary. IVIYTH0S Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Operating System? She says that she has that, she bought vista for her dad's machine but her dad wanted to stick with XP (lol) So she still has that, I don't think it's 64bit but I hear that the key works for either one. I can get the .iso from microsoft and then install it with her key.

IVIYTH0S Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 A bigger PSU 550W would be plenty, the system is very efficient but I suppose there's room to bump it up UPDATED!

CowKing Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 (edited) I hate the Antec 300 get a better case ROFL Edited July 22, 2010 by CowKing
IVIYTH0S Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 I hate the Antec 300 get a better case ROFL why lol, my dad has one and it's a great case. I bought everything but the case since I just noticed it's outta stock but if you can find something decent for $65 or less (including shipping/tax) than I'll be glad to buy it up. I'm looking for an alternative now
IVIYTH0S Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Update again, man this build is killing me. I'm not gettin the 955 since I didn't read that it had a busted pin, so I was refunded. Now I'm trying to decide to get her the x4 620 or maybe just get her a dual core. I wish there were more tri cores around. I'm buying a NZXT Gamma case from Compxpert for $40 I also idiotically forgot an optical drive though it should be easy to find one for $20-$25 dollars (the money saved from not getting the Antec 300)
bp9801 Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 For the CPU, if you still need one, how about the X3 445? The X4 620 would be a good choice as well, just giving you an option.
