Mattii Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 (edited) So I've been dealing with The Sims 3 lag spikes on my computer (32-bit, Windows XP) and it's just too annoying to deal with anymore. I can barely even play the game now because it's happening so frequently. After viewing task manager while playing, I've noticed that the game will run perfectly smooth (making Mattii HAPPY) while the CPU usage is a higher %, but for some reason (that Mattii would like to discover) the CPU usage % will just randomly drop down to something like 14% and make the game lag horribly! Can anyone please tell me what I could do to stop this? Or, if you know what's causing it possibly, can you tell me? I'll answer questions if I can, thanks. THIS IS WHAT CPU-Z LOOKS LIKE. I WAS TOLD THAT IS NOT NORMAL. help :c CPU Z.bmp Edited July 21, 2010 by Mattii
IVIYTH0S Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Run some temp monitoring programs, sounds like it may be throttling and this way we can find out if it's from temperature. Also, is Mattii's computer overclocked??
Mattii Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 (edited) *Is new* What's overclocking? (I know it's sad because I'm on this site) And what's throttling and all that >< sorry, Lol Edited July 21, 2010 by Mattii
IVIYTH0S Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 No need for apologies, I'm going to assume you aren't overclocked since you don't know what that is. (to put it simply it's is running your computer components faster than stock speeds) And throttling occurs when your system is overheating and your CPU slows (or throttles) down to cool down to a safer level.
