making a build

Ok guys I am trying to make a build for gaming and here is what I've reached so far:

 

 

MB: GIGABYTE X58A-UD3R >>> 698,88LT (~244$).

 

CPU: I7-930 >>> 1042,58LT (~367$).

 

VGA: GIGABYTE GTX480 or GTX470 or GTX465 >>> 1797,42LT; 1284,98LT; 1008,70LT (~627$; ~449$; ~353$).

 

HDD: Western Digital 1TB Blue >>> 262,26LT (~92$).

 

RAM: CORSAIR DDR3 3X2GB 1333MHZ >>> 527,27LT (~184$).

 

PSU: CORSAIR 750W >>> 478,96LT (~186$).

 

CD/DVD Drive: LG GH22NP20RBBB >>> 69,24LT (~25$).

 

Cooler: ZALMAN CNPS9900A >>> 143,46LT (~50$).

 

Case: No idea

 

Monitor: Samsung LCD 27" P2770HD (1920x1080) 1208,06LT (~423$).

So yeah, I'll buy these parts from the cheapest computer shop in my country, but as you can see their prices are pretty high... Buying from a store like newegg I could save a lot of money... Unfortunately it doesn't support Lithuania

I mean, guys help me out the price of this beast is rediculous....

Any tips, or other useful stuff would be nice, after all it's my first build...

My opinion:

 

You don't need a I7 930 , go with a 920 .

 

Go with a HD5850 because its cheaper and offers the same performance as a more expensive 470 nd can overclock to HD5870 levels.

The problem is that my store doesn't have 920 that's why I have chosen 930.

Also I always was an nvidia fan boy ;D I just couldn't play safely knowing that ATI is in my pc ;D

I will surely check out that motherboard.

I think I will get my i7 overclocked, but I don't know about the gtx4**

And I think you are right about the 4gb's of RAM

I'm running 64bit

I see you have a COOLER MASTER PSU and their case. Are they silent like they say? And hows their products anyway? 'Couze I just got hooked up with the silence thing

Im also an Nvidia fan boy

I had a HD5850 and it was good but didnt have all the nvidia eyecandy. If you can afford the 470 then go for it , I got mine way past the 480's clocks on stock cooling.

 

Their cases are very silent with stock coolermaster fans . I just put in very fast fans in every place I could for better airflow. Get the HAF932 if you can .

 

Dont overvolt the 470 much , mine are cool at 100% fan and 9 case fans at around 70 celsius under max voltage [i have a MSI gpu].You should be able to get to the GTX480's core and shader clocks without voltage at moderate fan speed.

 

Sound shouldn't matter to gamers but my 470 100% fan is about as loud as my old HD5850 80% fan. CM's power supply is perfect , havn't had any problems whatsoever with oc'ing. Brilliant quality. The Silent Pro M is modular and has more connectors than the corsair one so its a better deal.

 

If you wanted to save even more , you could get an i5 setup and clock that baby to compete with an i7

So gtx480 is just not worth it? gtx470 is the best deal? and what about gtx465 does it suck so bad?

And does overclocking have any disadvantages? Because I don't see any point of NOT doing it

And I can't figure out your point with the fans in every place. I thought that CPU comes with a cooler, VGA comes with a cooler and I'm adding another zalman cooler I don't even know where, so about what fans are you talking? And could you explain more about the cooling stuff?

Seeing a how you're going for an I7 setup, id suggest you stick with the 3X2Gb set. Remember I7 is triple channel not dual. For a case, go with something you like, stick with name brands such as cooler master, antec, nzxt, thermaltake, silverstone and just make sure it can house your video cards, cooler, and or ram. And you're golden.

Let me explain my cooling to you: On the side panel I have 4x 120mm 2000rpm coolermaster red LED fans . On the front I keep the stock 200mm red LED fan. On the top I have 2x 120mm 2000rpm red LED fans. I have a 140mm normal coolermaster fan at the back. I have a 120mm 2000rpm coolermaster fan at the bottom blowing onto my video card which has a fan . I have a V8 with a 120mm fan in it and my PSU has a fan . I have a samsung monitor , do not go for the P2770 . The clearness was horrible , I was going to get that but my monitor was much clearer with a fast response time.The motherboard you chose is one of the best but expensive. You wont be dissapointed with the 932.Go with a GTX470 is the best saving deal . You can overclock it to get nearly the same performance . The 480 and 465 ares just too expensive for their performance levels.

Always a good idea, best to get the most out of your purchases

You could overclock the ram, gpu, and cpu if you'd like. The downsides of overclocking can be avoided. Some are BSODS because the clock speed is too high (could be your cpu, or motherboard) heat is a killer too! Nothing too bad. You just have to be patient, always work your way up. Also watch your temps, and download some good programs (cpuz, occt, prime95, super pi, gpuz just to name a few helpful ones)

 

Last but not least make sure to read some guides first, get to know what you are doing and what values you will be changing.

@la1fas : Its not necesary to have so many fans unless you are really overclocking high . I dont know much about I7 overclocking , I just upped my quads FSB and lowered the Ram ratios to get it in a stable frequency . The GTX470 that joel suggested is very good and the same as mine [mine hust has a picture of a fighter plane which just looks cool] . PM me if you need help overclocking the 470 later on since I already have someone PM'ing me on how to do it correctly .
