la1fas Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Hey, it's time for me to buy a new PC, 'cause this one has a lot of problems on the new games. Now i own: Motherboard: MSI MS-7309 Processor: AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ (2 CPUs), ~2.6GHz VGA: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 1267MB Memory: 2GB DDR2 Hard drive is about 300GB Monitor: Syncmaster 931bw (1440x900 19") And I have spotted a built pc in a shop, that has caught my eye... It's for 3000LT >>> ~1200$ Motherboard: Intel® P55 LGA1156 Processor: Intel® Core™ i7 860 (2.8Ghz, 4 Cores, 8 Threads, Turbo, 8MB Cache, 45nm) Memory: 4GB (2x2GB DDR3 1333Mhz) Hard drive: 1.5TB 7200RPM 32MB SATA2 VGA: ATI® HD5750 1GB DDR5 DX11 Monitor: Samsung P2770HD (1900x1080 27") And I would like to modify the VGA, to a 480gtx or something, and ofc to add +4gb of memory or so... Would this pc go head to head with the new games? And would it be a nice improvement from my old one? So guys can you give me some feedback or tips? I would apprishiate it. Hello! would recommend that you wait until year's end so that all prices down and will be able to build a better pc
joel.monteiro Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 if u are using this pc for gaming ,i dont see the use for 8 gig of ram , 4 gigs is sufficient for gaming ,a gtx 480 at 1920x1080 wil be able to handle nething.
la1fas Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 k, thx 4 the tips another question... is the processor a good choice? 'cause my friend bought phenom 2 x4 955 about a year ago and it seems to go head to head with i7 860 or am I wrong?
cjloki Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 if you go to a gtx 480 then powering it will be an issue. you'll probably want at least 700 watts for the gtx 480 plus mobo plus other devices/accesories...i feel like a corsair 750 will be more than enough and then some...lots of headroom for one gtx 480 also the new core i7 875 can be had for less than the i7 860 unless they've dropped prices on them already....the 875 is a better processor....totally agree with joel.monteiro 4 gigs is plenty for gaming.... lastly and then i'll shut up....in a nutshell, intel motherboards suck; ...so try to find a p55 in your price range from one of the high end manufacturers like asus or gigabyte and you'll have a better experience... honestly you can build a better system yourself for around $1200.00 btw welcome to OCC la1fas...
