Slow start on computer

Can anyone help me with this really slow start on my computer? This is what happens:

60 seconds

Then I get this image

50 seconds

10 seconds

This image should show something like "Marvell intilasing - No hard disc detected!"

and finally....

Can anyone suggest something I can do to get rid of this really slow start? Particularly the 60 and 50 second picture.

First of all, try turning off that Asus splash screen in bios so you can see whats going on. Second, there's an option for POST length (quick or not) that you might want to check.

Also, does that really say "Starter Windows" ??

Edit: Also, disable things you arent using from the bios one by one (i.e that marvell adapter). I usually leave those off to speed up my boot time.

disable express gate in the BIOS and see what happens

^This will help your boot time. While express gate is a really nice feature, only leave it on if you foresee yourself needing to quickly just get on the interwebz or checking email before heading out the door five minutes later.

Quickboot - disabled for now

Asus splash screen - disabled

Express Gate - disabled

Marvel adapter - enabled if you want to use eSata/disabled otherwise

Clear CMOS, reload optimized defaults, reboot and make the changes I noted above

Then run Memtest to ensure that your memory and memory subsystem are stable. If that passes check your boot times again.

If they are still slow then you need to consider that a windows related driver is hanging on startup and a reinstall may be in order.

How fast does it boot once your Windows screen is going? MSCONFIG may hep you speed up your system on that end by switching to Selective Startup, and then under the STARTUP tab, disabling everything that's not needed to start. Move the divider between the Command and Location columns to the right so you can see more COMMAND, and then you'll see what you don't need. The only things I have starting with my PC are the Antivirus and my Zboard drivers. I'll start the other stuff (Adobe, Groove manager, java scheduler, etc...) when I want to start them, but they don't need to be running in the background when not in use. Note: Some printers like Lexmark need their drivers running all the time, or the printer won't work.
