billyb_07 Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 I just purchased and installed the Samsung P2770H monitor. Took it out, hooked it up with DVI, I see boot screen etc. but when Windows starts it goes to a black screen. The mouse curser is on the screen??? If I switch to the HDMI cable the picture works. With the HDMI cable attached I installed the included driver for the monitor (downloaded newest version from web). Removed the HDMI and changed back to the DVI - worked for awhile then went black. At one point it showed the screen saver and would not wake up. Reboot to black screen. Switch to HDMI and it works??? I would stick with the HDMI but the image quality is terrible (shadows on text, icons, etc.) Blurry or fuzzy compared to DVI (is this normal?) Running 1920x1080 @ 60hz. Any ideas? (other than returning it, which is still an option)

billyb_07 Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 HDMI is almost the same as DVI ,there might be something wrong with ur display driver of ur video card, try updating. I updated from CCC 10.2 to 10.4. So far, so good. 10.2 wasn't that old, but I guess that's why they make regular updates. I just needed someone to point out the obvious - thanks for the help. xPETEZx Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Connect it to another computer. But it sounds like there could be something wrong with the screen. HDMI/DVI should be the same. They use the same type of signal.
