this is a really cheap build... under $400!!! there are a few things missing, like speakers, keyboard, and mouse (which i actually do need to buy but ill get those from like Best Buy or somthing). i have a moniter and HDD but the moniter is REALLY bad though but ill worry about that later. anyway this is what i plan on getting in couple months when i get all the money.

if anyone has any suggestions about a better CPU that is still cheap please post. also keep in mind this is my first build so if i end up messing up somthing, i want to mess up somthing cheap. ive worked on computers before and am pretty confident about building one. im probably going to be mostly playing counter stike source on this rig but ill play other games on it, if this computer can handle them.

ok ill probably go with the PSU you recomended cuz ive heard countless times that a PSU is the worst component to cheap out on. i heard alot of good things about the Antec 550w but Corsair does seem like a more reliable brand to go with.

what are you using the system for?

if you can unlock cores on that board id try getting a phenom II 550 failing that see if you can get a cheap 9850 or 9950 of ebay.

the MoBo only supports AM2, AM2+, and the AMD Phenom is AM3. otherwise i would get a phenom II 550

according to gigabytes website if the bios are up to date it will take am3 cpu's

ohhh thats awsome i didnt relize AM3 worked with this board. i looked at the specs on newegg and it said it was only AM2 and AM2+. ok so im going to swap that PSU with the Corsair one and im going to use the AMD Phenom II 550.

I was selling my Phenom II x3 720 BE for $80, but no one wants it or no one looks at the OCC MarketPlace. I could throw in the aftermarket cooler for another $20. Considering the Phenom II x2 550 BE is $85 on Newegg...
