Computer not starting.. :/

Hey guys!

I have a problem. My computer is not starting up since todays morning :S

It worked fine yesterday but today it doesn't work anymore :S

When I start it does everything normal but then there is a black screen for like 2-3 minutes and then it restarts :S

does it still make the post beep when you first turn it on? do all the indicator/activity lights on the case still light up like normal? the fans & everything spin up? does your monitor say "no signal detected" or is it getting a signal... but it's just black

Well, it doesn't beep or anything. The lights are working kinda (It's an 7 year old computer so they dont work really well.. :/), the fans start up normally, and the screen is just black :/ BTW if I start it in safe mode it works.. So any idea? :/

Did you add any new hardware of any kind? How beefy is your power supply?

I didn't add anything.. It's a 350W LC Power PSU

if it absolutly works fine in safe mode then it sounds like a problem with the OS, 7 years is a long time for a computer to keep running with windows and surviving. if safe mode did the same thing i would say worn out hardware or serious OS problem. But if your issue is only in normal mode then i suggest a fresh install, and i do not suggest taking it somewhere and having someone else do it for you. You can find plenty of guides and help on here, play around with it and when more questions or specific scenerios arise feel free to post here.

 

another thing - save important files and scan them and your pc with microsoft security essentials. its free and for me found a trojan in a certain song file that had gone undetected for 5 or so years, 3-4 other virus protection programs never picked it up and i do quick scans weekly, full monthly. so before you end up transferring a bad file and end up with the same issue take some time to double check.

OK, guys, ty for the replies.

I don't rly know what's up with the computer but today it suddenly started up (weird)!

I'm gonna run some antivirus and antispyware scans to make sure if anythinkg is wrong.

So, wish me luck! ;D

So now what is your PC situation, change your monitor may be problem will solve.

i having the problems that you've stated,no beep,monitor says no signal detected and fans are working fine.to boot into windows i need to force shot down and turn on again.i've been doing this everytime to start the pc.please help...
