Trirepetae Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Hey, I'm trying to put together a new system now. CPU: i7 930 (quad core @ 2.8Ghz) Mobo: EVGA x58 3x SLI Graphics Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 5870 vapor-x Power Supply: HX 1000W Corsair ... I put the system together yesterday, but it looks like I'm not getting any output from the graphics card. I tried connecting my monitor through DVI but I'm not getting any signal. I'm not sure if the issue is with the graphics card or the motherboard though. The fan on the graphics card is spinning, so it's definitely getting power, but I tried swapping out the graphics card with a slightly older Radeon that I know works on another machine, and I'm still not getting any output. So I'm wondering if the problem could be with the motherboard instead? The POST LED says "FF" though (so "boot"), so i'm assuming it passes all the initial tests just fine. I'm a little stumped because I'm not exactly sure where the problem could lie. Any ideas? Thanks a lot
dr_bowtie Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 do a minimal build out of the case...1 stick of ram and listen for the post beep... what happens then?
sdy284 Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 did you try both DVI ports on the back of your GPU?
Trirepetae Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 So i tried out the card on another computer and it works just fine. So the issue is with the mobo then I think. I'll look into updating the firmware and BIOS for it. Hopefully that'll help? I'll try that as well. Just 1 stick of RAM and the CPU? Thanks
davidst Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 of course check that the ram is seated good and don't hook up drives or anything else
Trirepetae Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 nevermind, i'm an idiot, i can't upgrade the firmware of course if I can't even get into the BIOS itself
