brandon640 Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Hey guys, ive selected the thermaltake toughpower cable management 750 watt PSU as my power supply. It has four (+12v) rails, each carrying 18 amps. But the website stated that it has a total combined amperage of 60Amps.....i thought it should be 72 ??? heres the website: http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Product.aspx...mp;ID=1508#Tab0 Anyway, will the PSU be enough for my build?? Intel core i7 860 sapphire HD 5850 asus p7p55d-e motherboard 500GB SATA samsung 2233sw HD Monitor THANKS IN ADVANCE
synvice Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 that should be fine, as long as you dont use two of the 5850, if you did that, you would need to upgrade, if you plan on doing that, then go ahead and get a better one. Jenova69 Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 750w powersupply will be fine for 2 5850's but, i'd go with something that has a more powerful single rail like something by corsair.
krazypoloc Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 I would go with a Corsair as well.
ccokeman Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 There is no reason that this one wont' work even with with dual 5850's, If you follow TT's load balancing guidelines in the manual you will be fine. People always give multi rail PSUs a bad rap. When you load balance the rails there are no problems at all. The corsair is a nice PSU as well and does just fine as well
Drdeath Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 (edited) 750W Thermaltake toughpower will be ample for any 2 cards on crossfire. I would take a look at the HX series from Corsair. They are one of the most efficient made and get a 4 star rating. It may cost more but great PSU.
