RadioActivated Posted January 17, 2004 Posted January 17, 2004 (edited) i know now how Heatsinks work ..so ..lets say i wanna install some heat sinks on my RAMi know that the Chips on the RAM are much smaller and dispense a lot less heat then the CPU or even the GPU so the heatsinks will be smaler& have less flaps for the air to go on it , so my ponit is ..are these good Ram sinks ..there not to expansive..! or are these better...? http://www.casecooler.com/vico.html Edited January 17, 2004 by RadioActivated
kobalt Posted January 17, 2004 Posted January 17, 2004 (edited) I,d go with those in the pic, the other ones are just a piece of copper (at best maybe anodized alu) folded and held on with a clip <_< The question is, is your ram hot enough to need those, or if is it for looks anyways go with the pic still Edited January 17, 2004 by kobalt
IUMaestro Posted January 17, 2004 Posted January 17, 2004 The individual copper ones you have in the picture are definately better than the heat spreaders. If you dont mind forking out the cash for them you will probably get better performance off of the individual heatsinks as opposed to the sheets that go over the DIMMs. And IMO it looks alot cooler having little individual heatisnks on your RAM chips. Sly_C Posted January 17, 2004 Posted January 17, 2004 yeah since the chips are on both sides it would better to put the hs's on both side as well.
gravy Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 grab you some Arctic Silver thermal adhseive, it will hold them there, and conduct heat alot better than those thermal pads.
