kuri Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Didn't see this on OCC or see any posts about it. In case anyone missed it, Intel released new Motherboard Chipset Drivers that bring TRIM Support to RAID Setups. Download link: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/detail_des...p;DwnldID=15251 Change Log copied from other websites: RAID enabled systems Redundant Array of Independent Drives (RAID) refers to multiple independent disks combined to form one logical drive. The main objective of this technology is to improve storage system performance, data protection, and increase fault-tolerance. This technology provides support for the following features: ■ Intel
sdy284 Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 well thats pretty cool. although i'm having a hard time justifying paying for one SSD, let alone two
Waco Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 This is a pass-through driver ONLY. It does not pass the TRIM command to drives in a RAID array, only drives connected to the controller in single-disk mode with another RAID array. kuri Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Doh! Waco may be right. Just found this: http://www.techreport.com/discussions.x/18653 Intel's Help/Change Log content is certainly misleading. What's with the hype on all the other forums then...
Waco Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 People just don't read carefully; that's all. It happens to all of us. The title of the driver update itself is pretty misleading.
Compxpert Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 When they finally support port multipliers then we'll talk.... as of now it only sees them but states that it can only use one drive (the first one)... <_<

That's nowhere near the same thing as supporting port multipliers.
Compxpert Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Yeah. That's nowhere near the same thing as supporting port multipliers. I'm aware. Point being though plenty of chipsets that are not Intel's already support these features while Intel lacks them still.
