The EvilAlex Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 People recommended me Corsair Dominator 6Gb, 1600Mhz, CL7 because it is supposed to be the ultimate I7 ram, but there seem to be diffrent versions. TR3X6G1600C7D and CMP6GX3M3A1600C7, so whats the difference and which one is better???
rourkchris Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 $10 and the timings. The TR3X6G1600C7D timings are 7-7-7-20 and the CMP6GX3M3A1600C7 timings are 7-8-7-20. The heatsinks are a bit shorter on the CMP6GX3M3A1600C7 so fitting a larger cooler may be easier/or possible. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820145253 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820145289
The EvilAlex Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 So wait... CMP6GX3M3A1600C7 is better?? It is 10 bucks more, but I thought lower timing is better...
Rokkaholik Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Depends on what you're doing with it. Looser timings give more room for overclocking if I remember correctly
slick2500 Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 There are no real world performance gains going with lower latency ram, I think it was Angry_Games who proved this a few years ago when all the CL2 DDR ram was flying around the web. I would post a link to the thread but all the graphs are gone because they were hosted on his site and that has been down for some time now. IntelGuru Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 True there is really no preformane diffrence between the 2, get the cheaper set. Corsair has great memory and it really preforms well with the i7's and X58.
IntelGuru Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 If you want a really good set of 1600 ram then go with this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820231304 I just got this set and wow its a solid preformer, Overclocks great at 1800 and beats out corsair in alot of benchmarks.
