R1P5AW's Project 300

Recommended Posts

Well as most of you know I'm in the middle of my HAF 932 build. Well my brother had an Antec 300 laying around and offered if I took him out to dinner I could have it (how could you turn that down?)

So after the purchase of 12 boneless wings and a 32oz Dortmunder I found a new case in my hands.

Current parts:

Bitspower Multi-150 reservoir

Black Ice X-Flow 240 rad

Laing D4 Pump

This build is going to move a lot slower as I'm planning a lot of case mods.

Plans include:

Black/green theme

Side window

Inside painted matte black (or kawasaki green :D )

Cable-management holes

Fill-port mounted on top

and more..

Where do you plan on mounting that rad? Looks interesting, can't wait for more updates.

I'm chopping out the 3.5" bays and plan on mounting it right up to the 2x120mm fans on the front of the case. I'm de-riveting it now and need to get to sanding :D

what interals are going in this one

That's a great question and one may say the most important in a computer build. To be honest I'm not too sure yet. I'm just gonna do a bunch of case-modding to it and then either go i7 for my main computer and give it my old mobo and such or just pick up some older cheaper parts and play around with it.

After some fun with the drill de-riveting:

Now onto sanding and the auto parts store

But I'll wait a few days to paint for both warmer weather and I need to cut some holes first..

Why not just have the case powder coated? It will be way more durable than using spray paint. My local shop offers $150 to do it in any color.

$150 vs $20 and if you do it right you can make it look just as good ;)

I'd find it hard in my mind at least to justify a $150 powder coat on such an inexpensive (relatively speaking) case. As R1P5AW noted, $150 vs $20, kind of a no brainer, unless you just have money to burn.

Agreed. I can't justify spending 3x the price of the case on powder-coating. And someone else doing it takes all the fun and pride out of it!
