asus question

Recommended Posts

they both have way more features then i need but i want something thats gonna be able to let the processor i want to acheive the specs the processor is capable of. the two processors i was looking at were either the i7-920 (2.66) or the amd route, 965 black edition (3.4) both are quad core and both have features that none of the mobo's i've seen can take. one exaple would be for the amd cpu is the 4000MHz hyper transport all the mobos ive seen were 2600MHz only... any suggestions on a mobo. i would like to stick with a reputable company for the mobo...

also some overclocking ability would be good! i have a gigabyte board right now and they dont make it very easy for me to do OCing at all. maybe its cause ima noob but still its not easy

ok lets start over since everyone is skiming through it. need a mobo for either a i7 or 965 black edition. the mobos in the first post were ones i was looking at. i was wondering if there is a better and maybe cheaper choice for what i am looking for. it has to support either the i7's turbo crap or the 4000MHz hyper transport the amd is cranking out... i simply stated that those seemed to be the best ones i could find and later asked if anyone knew of better ones that were maybe alil cheaper. just dont wanna buy a new processor if i cant get a mobo to utalize what they are capable of. understand? =) thank you everyone that has responded! by no means am i trying to be mean :angry2: lol

How much are u looking to spend? and then what processor do you want to use? Both are good processors I have used them both and overclocked them both I have not had a chance to set up a system with the crosshair but I have used the M4A79-T and it has worked very well for me. If you go with the i7 I really like the Asus Rampage II Extreme

You do know that those boards will not work with an i7 right? They are AM3 socket boards and will only work with the AM3 socket cpus the i7 is socket 1366 and thats why i suggested The Rampage II

Are you looking to build a new computer or what is your plan?

since the system in my sig doesnt wanna work right (memory runs at 800mhz and processor is not overclockable) i want something that i can spend lil money as possible on and get decent gains out of. its a new build since everything in my current setup wont work with the phenomII and def. wont work with intel. i spent 500 dollars on my setup and realized later i bought something that will never be able to be changed. everyone said overclock like this and that but for some reason if i change something in the slightest it crashes on boot-up =( time for a new system right?

When you over clock bring up your bus speed 5mhz at a time and when it wont boot just raise your vcore a little until it is stable but dont bring your vcore over 1.45

and b4 you start overclocking make sure you have a decent cooler. Are you using the stock one right now?
