AMD Phenom 2 955 would be the best for the price.

However, if you want bawls to the wall and dont have a low spending limit. Get the i7.

it depends what parts you want/need. I mean, you have a fairly decent rig there in your sig, so are you looking to upgrade just the CPU/mobo?

if so, you can go either way. If you're looking for a whole system, definitely AMD.

If you're looking to spend the least, you could pick up a Phenom II 955 and a 790X/GX/FX AM2+ board, reuse your DDR2 1066 mem and call it a day with a decent gaming system.

if you want to go AM3 or intel, you're also looking at new ddr3 memory. and If you go Intel, i reccommend an quad i5 for gaming, it'll perform similiarly and cost less money (compared to i7) and pretty much on par with quadcore phenom IIs.

if you're looking for a whole system, with a $600 budget, go AMD, but it's pushing it.

alrighty then lol ima have to spend a grip of dough pretty much... to tell you the truth if i could OC this system it would prob. be enough to keep me interested but it always crashes on me... thats the main reason im getting rid of it. on stock settings it shuts down and reboots as physical memory crashes and OC'in it is imposible. its to touchy for a noob like myself
