sil180sx Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 Recently I assembled a new computer for over clocking and have had some issues with getting the FSB to 400mhz which the A7N8X is supposed to be able to handle; However, I am using Geil Gold Dragon dual channel memory 512 DDR @ 400mhz.. I can set it to 400mhz when clocked at 3200+ though it will not boot at this setting.. It will only boot when the memory is at 200mhz OCed to 3200+ .. Even when not OCed the system is unstable w/ constant system shutdowns and lock ups.. Is this a result of using Geil Memory? If anyone has any suggested stable setups for a barton 2500+ on Asus A7N8X Deluxe MB w/ Geil 512 DDR Dual Channel Memory, I would greatly appriciate it. I am also using a thermaltake cpu fan. sil180sx Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 I have tried 2.6,2.7,and 2.8 in search of something stable however no luck.. You are using a single stick of geil memory though.
keto Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 How much voltage are you feeding the cpu? U might need 1.85 vcore to do 3200+

FanATIc205 Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 (edited) golden dragon and the asus board dont get along sometimes, of all the nf2 borads the asus is the most stuborn picky mobo when it comes to ram. call geil and see what they have to say. most ram companys are quick to send you out some new ram if you let them put a charge hold on your cc. they should overnight you a new stick. but then again the golden dragon might never work with your board, also set your cpu voltage to 1.75 or 1.80 depending on temps and the ram to 2.8 Â i had headaches with this hyperx till i got a new rev from kingston then all was fine Edited January 12, 2004 by FanATIc205

FanATIc205 Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 What kind of issues with your hyper-x? i have the pc-3200 and have been happy so far . any thing past 180fsb and the hyperx became unstable in my asus board. it was a problem with the kingston 4.5ns chips used on the first rev of hyperx kingston quickly relized the problem and went with winbond chips. the nf2 is just a picky n/b when it comes to ram
