System under $200? I have the mobo, CD-Rom

Recommended Posts

He could buy a garage psu at a local retailer test his mobo, if it works then return garbage psu, buy reasonable, psu, hd, and ram off the net cheaply, and continue to save up till he gets about $800-$1000 then build a decent box, and btw just because yours has a celeron d sticker on the box does not mean it is not the same computer, they came with many different, processor and were stickered accordingly.

If it does work I have 1GB ddr as 2x 512MB you can buy for $20 shipped to the lower 48

psu- cool max http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817159062 - 24.99 not the best but for your purposes perfect

hd - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822136457 - $46

or if the box does not work

I have an HP a820n($75-shipped) that works well just used a recovery box

orignal specs http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documen...;product=443070

mobo - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documen...;product=443070

current specs

3.2ghz pentium d 800fsb socket 775

1.5GB ram

in need of a psu, optical drive( you have an optical drive so you should be good there), and hd

as far as the other two parts.

psu- cool max http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817159062 - 24.99 not the best but for your purposes perfect

hd - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822136113 - 44.99 250GB

both these options put you in under $200

and oh vid card pci for either http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814187041 8400gs not great but it is a lot better than on board $45

I would just save your money until you can build an entire system.

Prices of components go down over time or new parts that perform better come out at the same price.

If you buy a video card now and can't use it for 6 months, its not doing you much good, and will have dropped in value in that time.

I would completely forget about water cooling if I were you its mostly just for show,

good air cooling can get you overclocks close to water systems at a fraction of the price.

I say save the case and save up money for all the internals, you will have a better system in the end.

I like posts like this.

Well, I'm bidding on a case, motherboard, and powersupply.

I tested the power supply, it works. Motherboard doesn't. It's fried when it got struck by lightning.

Also, like i Said, I can get almost all the parts at school. My teacher also gets a discount so if I buy through her, I can get it cheaper.
