asus Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 Somebody told me not to wast the extra on the 9800 but just to get the 9600xt!! I herd this 9600xt is a very reliable card that will give you extreamly good graphics.. so.. is this person right or wrong.. is it worth the extra money.. or should i put what i save on the 9600xt on a new monitor.. ??thanks
bishop245 Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 the 9600xt is a good card so if your in the market for a new graphix card now then get it if not wait til you get the money for the 9800xt

Mist Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 9800 pro is better then a 9600 xt for that matter a 9700 pro is better then a 9600 xt be a long shot. If your gonna get a card I'd go for the 9800 pro as the xt version is a waste of money righ tnow.
FanATIc205 Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 (edited) if your passing up a 9800 for a 9600xt dont do it go the middle road and find a 9700pro. the 9700pro is alot better than the 9600xt and is very close in performance to the 9800's. if you read cpu magazine check out anand's article from the december issue. for around 200 bucks you can find a 9700pro and with a lil oc youll be right up there with the 9800's Edited January 11, 2004 by FanATIc205
asus Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 Those were all the things i was going to build my computer with.. im just usin an old nvidia geforce4 440mx.. that actually plays just as good as the more expensive cards with a slight oc. But i have everything exept the graphics card.. i guess il wait and get the best one i can afford!! thanks
FanATIc205 Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 youll flip when you see how good the iq is when you go to ati. recently my die hard nvidiot friend broke down and went from a 4200 to a 9600 pro. the frame rates was slightly lower but he flipped out at how good the card renders images with af on. but if your happy with the mx440 thats all that matters

FanATIc205 Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 lower???? what the heck now im not getting a xt i have a ti4600 and ill get lower fps?!?!?! like 3 to 8 frames lower not much the 9600 is a mainstream card not a high end like the 9800pro. the gf4 series was all bout frame rates it was just a raw fast card with well now that i look back not to good image quailty compared to what ati is putting out now
